Despite the political turmoil in Mali, most Medicine for Mali programs are occurring in the impoverished, remote area of 8,000 individuals that we serve. Sadly,American volunteers are not going to Mali in 2013. However, Medicine for Mali’s Director of Operations in Mali, Dr. Bagayoko and his able colleagues, direct our programs all year and will continue to do so in 2013. The actions of the rebels and Islamists are mainly in the remote northern part of the country, far from our area. Banks and ministries are functioning. Therefore; microfinance loans, clean water projects, scholarships, teacher training, birth attendant training, malaria prevention, immunizations, malnourishment prevention: all these life giving programs continue daily in the Medicine for Mali area with your help. Thank you very much!
